JJ Memorial Helmet Sticker

arvey team will wear a special helmet sticker in honor of the late Joseph Jantorno, father of Rock Gold - Garvey team member Hailee Jantorno.

Rock Hall of Fame Night

Amanda Kulp, Class of 2015, sophomore starting centerfielder at St. Joseph’s University, and Nicole Rounsavill, Class of 2016, freshman starting shortstop at Colgate University, were inducted into the Rock Softball Hall of Fame (http://www.rocksoftball.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1190075).  Joining them at the ceremony that was held at Trenton Thunder Stadium on May 24th were many current rec and travel players from the Rock softball program.

Rock Training Strong in Winter

Over the winter, the Rock Travel Program held over 30 training sessions exclusively for members of the Rock travel teams.  Pitching, hitting, fielding and slapping clinics were conducted by several notable figures in fastpitch softball:

- Bill Edwards, legendary head coach at Hofstra University and NFCA Hall of Famer, conducted glove work and throwing clinics.

- Emily Allard, outfielder for the Chicago Bandits professional softball teamAnd a four-time NFCA All-Region and All-Big Ten selection at Northwestern, , conducted slapping clinics.

- Ashley Vanboxmeer, Olympic Gold and Silver medalist, 2006 Player of the year, 3 time All Conference, 3 time All Region at Cal State Fullerton, conducted hitting and fielding clinics.

Rock Gold Gets a New Look

Rock Gold visited The Gluv Athletique during the recent Surf City Thanksgiving Showcase to tour the factory and get a first-hand look at their new uniforms.

Rock Gold goes 5-2 at Surf City

Newtown Rock Gold began the weekend with two victories over CO Next Level and Corona Angels at the Surf City Early Thanksgiving Showcase.

Newtown Rock Gold goes 3-0 with three shutout wins on the second day of the Surf City Early Thanksgiving Showcase in Huntington Beach, CA. Rock Gold defeated Irvine Sting 1-0, Lakewood Firecrackers 2-0, and Ohana Tigers 6-0.

Newtown Rock Gold finished the weekend with a 5-2 record at the Surf City Early Thanksgiving showcase. The team suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of the WA Absolute Blast and then lost 4-0 in a hard fought game to the #2 nationally ranked So Cal A's-Richardson in action on Sunday.

November & December College Clinics

Newtown Rock Fastpitch will be hosting the following clinics featuring instruction by D1 and D2 college coaches at the Rock Softball Academy located in the NAC Sports Training Center (GPS: 120 Pheasant Run, Newtown, PA 18940). Limited registration, contact Dan Santelli at dan@newtownrockgold.com for information.

Hitting Clinics: Tuesday, November 29th and Monday, December 5th featuring Joe Guthrie, Assistant Coach at Bucknell University Two sessions: 6:00pm-7:30pm and 7:30 pm-9:00 pm. Limited availability.

High Tempo Defense and Catching Clinic: Sunday, December 18th from 2-5pm featuring Ashley Waters, Head Coach at Boston University, who will be working on softball fundamentals and playing the game with high tempo, and Jaime Wohlbach, Head Coach at East Stroudsburg University, who will be covering catching fundamentals.

Hankins & Kulp Earn Awards

Two Class of 2015 teammates earned awards this season for their collegiate teams: Fairfield’s Courtney Hankins garnered a MAAC All-Rookie spot for her performance in 2016. She picked up the MAAC Rookie of the Week on March 22 after batting .500 with two home runs and seven RBI in a 2-1 week for the Stags. IDT & PGF Wrap

Newtown Rock 18U Gold concluded their Summer 2016 season by playing in two of the premier events in the country. Rock Gold first traveled to Boulder, Colordo the week of June 27th to participate in the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament. This invitational tournament brings together the top 64 teams in the country and attracts over 250 college coaches. Rock Gold placed 33rd and along the way and their opponents included the Corona Angels-Tyson, So Cal A's - Richardson (Tournament Champions) and the Beverly Bandits, who all are ranked in the top 10 in the country. Rock Gold then traveled to Huntington Beach, California the week of July 24th to compete in the 2016 PGF 18U Premier National Championships. This is the 5th consecutive year that Rock Gold has qualified for PGF Premier Nationals, which is considered the most prestigious National Championship in travel softball. Rock Gold concluded play with a 49th place finish in the field of 72 teams.

ROCK Gold Wins 5th Consecutive PGF Premier Berth

The ROCK Gold traveled to Edison, New Jersey this past weekend to claim its fifth straight Premier Girls Fastpitch National Tournament Premier berth.  The ROCK Gold will travel to Huntington Beach, California in July to compete in the PGF Premier National Championship against the best high school age players in the world.  Coach Garvey believes that this is his best team of all time, as it is made up of speed, balance and power (a pretty team to watch) and expects to compete for a National Championship. On their way to their 2016 berth this weekend, the ROCK Gold defeated the NYC Rush (14-0), VA Glory Gold (6-0), Jersey Gators Gold (10-0), and Team Long Island Gold (4-1).  Congratulations to the team!
