ROCK Gold Scores vs National Field

Boulder, Colorado -- Newtown ROCK Softball continues to bolster its reputation as a nationally recognized elite softball program with ROCK Gold as one of the best teams in the country!ROCK Gold once again continued its winning ways at the Boulder Independence Day Tournament July 2-6. The event is one of the most exclusive - invitation only - in the nation. Invited teams - which must have distinguished themselves at a national level to be considered for entry - are typically placed in the "Louisville" division and have to win their way into the top level "Boulder" division the following year. The team played in six recruiting showcase games before entering the competitive elimination tournament on Saturday.

The team made a strong run during eliminations but, came up short against the SoCal Athletics in the championship game. Still, earning 2nd place put the ROCK ahead of all other local teams in the event and earned the team a bid to next year's prestigious "Boulder" division of the tournament. All in all a very impressive debut by ROCK Gold in their first year playing in the Independence Day Tournament!
