Newtown ROCK Gold defeated the Illinois DiDi Rockers 3-2 today to earn a berth to the Premier Girls Fastpitch National Championship this summer.ROCK Gold coaches Joe Garvey and Odysseus Marcopolus co-hosted the PGF Northeast Qualifier with Team New Jersey's Jim Barsalona. The 3-day event was held at Helen Randle Park in Newtown, PA where teams flew in from as far as California to compete.ROCK Gold saw action against the NJ Starfire, NJ Rampage Gold, Virginia Glory Gold, North Carolina Lady Lightning - Miken Gold, the New Mexico Sundancers and finally, the Illinois Rockers to claim one of the coveted PGF invitations. The PGF National Championship will be held in Huntington Beach, California July 29th-August 4th. It is one of the most highly attended tournaments in the country and will be a hotspot for college recruiters this summer. ROCK Gold's 2012 squad includes several players who have committed to playing softball for NCAA Division 1 colleges upon graduation from high school.
Rock GOLD will be the sole representative from Pennsylvania to attend the 2012 National Tournament.
